Creating Spiritual Associations for the Awakening of Consciousness
In one of his life lectures, Samael Aun Weor has brought to attention the necessity of having as much as possible spiritual associations throughout the day, by living a spiritual life and by immersing oneself in spiritual activities. By so doing, we create spiritual associations that help the consciousness in the process of its awakening. In that lecture, he was especially emphasizing how this new associations help the consciousness to break free during the dream state from being submerged into subconscious mind to gaining lucidity and dreams of a more meaningful type. Here is an excerpt from that lecture:
“In the physical world, we have to learn to create specific and intelligent associations for the life in the superior worlds. During the incorrectly named “waking state” we are associated with the human beings in the job or at home or in the street, etc. during the sleep hours there also exist associations and these are the specific result of the associations that we have in the physical world. If a XX person lives in a bar, obviously his associations in the inner worlds during the sleep hours and after death will be a life in a bar, a life related with bar tenders and vagabonds of any kind. If somebody associate himself with thefts and bandits; in the inner worlds during the sleep hours, he will live among thefts and bandits. Therefore, we have to create here and now, in the physical world, the kind of associations that we want to have during the sleep hours and after death.
“It would be really beautiful to be associated during the sleep hours with the temple, right here, studying the Mysteries of Life and Death; after the death it is really beautiful to be dedicated to the study, but that would only be possible if we have frequent meetings. So I repeat, we have to generate the kind of associations that we wish, we have to provoke the kind of associations that we want to have during the sleep hours and after death. Understanding this, we will establish very strong bases for the awakening of the Consciousness.”
“If one wants to live consciously in the inner worlds and become a competent investigator of the life in the superior worlds, obviously one has to create his own associations, like the one that we have in this moment.
“We are in plene assembly and this is extraordinary, we are talking about the awakening of the Consciousness and that is magnificent because we are promoting extraordinary associations for the superior worlds. Now, when you go to your homes, once your bodies fall sleep on bed, obviously you will leave the body and of course, you will come to meet in the same form as you are here tonight in the physical plane; in this form you will meet in the Astral in order to do the same: for the study of the awakening, and obviously you will receive the assistance of the Masters of the Occult Fraternity.
“You are promoting extraordinary associations for the superior worlds. However, if you were not here but in a bar, or in a casino or cabaret, tonight when your bodies fall asleep, once your essence is out, that is to say, the inner values, would associate but this time it would not be for the study of the Consciousness.
“In this form, the Consciousness will keep awakening and one day will be absolutely awakened; once the Consciousness is awakened, we will be prepared enough to see by ourselves the path that will lead us to the final liberation.”
The consciousness awakens gradually before the Path and for the most part on the Path itself. The more it awakens, the more we gravitate towards the spiritual and everything that goes along with it. As we begin to live more in line with the Divine Law as the result of our inner work, we will create more and more spiritual associations that will help our consciousness to be reminded to be present in the here and now, and to have spiritual and clear dreams rich with symbolism and guidance. Eventually the consciousness may awaken permanently, but the risk of identifying with materialistic associations is still there, making the dreams become less clear and more hectic. Hence, the need to maintain the state that we have gained, and to nourish the spiritual within as much as possible.
