Who was Samael Aun Weor?

Samael Aun Weor is a spiritual name of the person that was born as Victor Manuel Gomez Rodrigez, in Bogota, Colombia in 1917. He said that from an early age he had some psychic abilities, and a strong spiritual restlessness that lead him to search for the path to awakening. He also said that he was born with an awakened consciousness, which undeniably helped him a lot in his search in order to discern that which is valuable from a lot of other information that he encountered.

Victor studied esoteric teachings of various traditions, such as the Order of the Rosen Cross, Theosophy, Freemasonry, Gurdjieff system of teachings, different types of Yoga and so on.

At the age of 30 he has awoken his Kundalini and started teaching a small group of students in Santa Marta, Colombia, soon to release his first book called Perfect Matrimony, in which he wrote a lot about the path and the sacred sexuality. Around that time period he founded the modern Gnostic Movement.

By the age of 37, Victor incarnated a large part of his Being (known as Atman or Master) whose name is Samael Aun Weor, completing the first large stage of the spiritual path.

At the age of 60, Samael Aun Weor has achieved the second big milestone of the spiritual path, which relates to spiritual Resurrection, a process that happens at the second large state of the path. By that time he incarnated six large part of his Being. Soon afterwards he disincarnated, on December 24th 1977.

During the course of his lifetime he wrote over 50 books, and gave hundreds of talks, on subjects such as spiritual development, spiritual path, esoteric psychology, alchemy, kundalini, dimensions of life, astrology, runes, endocrinology, cosmogony, and much more.

It is said that he is a master of synthesis, because he extracted the most valuable information from many of the esoteric teachings; drawing a lot from the teachings of H.P.Blavatsky, Arnold Krum Heller, and Gurdjieff, among others.

His biggest legacy is in the enormous spiritual heritage that he left, including being the first to have publicly revealed the largest parts of the path to awakening, as well as what is needed for someone to complete it.

His teachings are immensely practical, and base themselves on spiritual ascent that is profoundly deep, because it combines the psychological with mystical inner work. Most of his quintessential teachings are contained in his later books and public talks.
