Samael Aun Weor’s Mirror Practice to Strengthen Your Soul

Some time ago I encountered this interesting practice/petition from a book called Introduction to Gnosis by Samael Aun Weor. In it he describes how to get in closer contact with ones own soul, and how to try strengthening it with a petition that is done in front of a mirror. This can be very useful if we struggle in our inner work, when our will is succumbing to that of the egos, when it seems to us that we are not ascending in a proper way, or that we are stagnant, unable to lift up from the ground. It seems that often time our work needs an extra boost, beyond the Three Keys for liberation. An aid can then be found in petitons, working with energies as explained by awakened masters, different sorts of prayers, and overall being open to receive a lot of help. The petition from the book goes like this:

“In front of a mirror, contemplate your face closely and then pray in this manner:

My Soul, you should succeed. My Soul, you should overcome Satan. My Soul, take over my mind, my sentiments, my life. You should keep the Guardian of the Threshold far away from me. You should overcome him. You should take power over me totally. Amen. Amen. Amen.

“Say this prayer seven times and then observe in the mirror your eyes, your pupils, the center of your pupils, the retina of your eyes and imagine them charged with light, strength and power. It is necessary that you try to mentally penetrate the interior of your eyes reflected in the mirror. It is necessary for you to try to see with your imagination the center of those reflected eyes, the beauty of your soul. It is necessary for you to exclaim saying, ‘Oh, my soul! I want to see you, I want to see you, I want to see you.’

“Intensely persevere daily with this exercise. Do your exercise every night before going tosleep. With this exercise you will develop clairvoyance. Practice for ten minutes daily. That is all.”
