To Appreciate Oneself

To appreciate oneself, what does this mean? Does it mean to pamper oneself with gifts, , becoming narcissistic, self-considering oneself when people are not treating you the way you would like, or perhaps to feel negative towards them as the way to affirm your pride? With above mentioned things we are not really appreciating ourselves, but rather falling deeper into the pit of the self-loving drives and impulses that will not make our lives more happy, but rather feeling more and more miserable.

“Do not resist evil” in the Light of the Gnostic-Esoteric Teachings

One of the statements that caused pondering in many students of esoteric teachings is “Do not resist evil”. This line is often associated with the teachings of Jesus where he said “Do not resist an evil person”, elaborating upon it by saying that one should love their enemy and the ones that persecute you. In my view he tried to soften the hearts of the people of the time by giving them this exoteric meaning of the teachings. Nevertheless, the teaching “Do not resist evil” goes deeper than

Using Koan Meditation for Silencing the Mind

One of the good ways to silence the mind (and subsequently activate your consciousness) is through a technique known as the koans. This old Zen Buddhist method for meditation involves pondering on enigmatic phrases, questions or sentences that are without an answer, or that the mind has a difficult finding an answer to. However, “pondering” in this case does not refer to thinking about it, but rather shining the light of consciousness on it in the state of inner stillness.

Preparing for Meditation

Before starting a meditation, regardless if just starting out with this practice or if already practicing it for some time, it is important to prepare for it. When novice in meditation starts practicing it, they don’t take enough time to do what is necessary to prepare for it. It is often thought that meditation is like any other hobby or activity in which you jump straight into from whatever else you were doing before. But meditation differs from that, in that it requires a proper

Significant Spiritual Level Means Access to Psychic Perceptions?

Not long ago I have read a book by Peter Deunov (also known as Beinsa Douno) who was a popular spiritual teacher in Europe in the first half of the 20th century, and has mostly taught a type of spirituality that incorporates something of Western Esotericism and Christianity. There are some insightful things in that book, but also one very common misconception when it comes to spiritual development.

A Deeper Meaning Behind “Expansion of Consciousness”

In the last few decades there has been a lot of talk in various spiritual circles about expansion of consciousness; that in order to be spiritual, the person needs to expand their consciousness. Many people say that by using meditation or some other spiritual practices, that they have expanded their consciousness. If you would to inquire more about what they mean by this, often time you would get an answer that they have become more aware in daily life and more conscious of the things that

Deep States of Relaxation: Their Spiritual and Physical Benefits

On the path of self-discovery, many people take up meditative mystical practices in order to reach deeper information about reality of themselves and the Universe, so to discover things that go beyond what their physical senses can perceive. Often time such practices involve relaxing the physical body so that there is no tension, and therefore no distraction. In this process of learning a new practice, many do not go deep enough into that stage of relaxation, and they miss out on enormous

Is Environment Important when Searching for Truth?

Often time one can hear a statement that “the truth is inside you so you don’ have to go anywhere to discover it, because you already have it within”. If going by this logic, then we should just stay at home, read a lot of books, or do an online course and we will eventually discover the truth within. But one can wonder, is it really so simple? And, can we really say that such process is valid for everyone?

Mythological Symbolism of the Great Work: The Hero’s Journey Towards the Source

Throughout the world the great inner struggle, or the Great War that takes place inside a person that aspires to reunite with their Being/Higher Self has been depicted in many different forms, throughout ages and continents. In more recent times, when our world has plunged into the jaws of materialism, this Great War has been interpreted as something external, as if we are to defeat an enemy, or a group of enemies that are outside of us, belonging to this or that community or race. But this

Samael Aun Weor’s Mirror Practice to Strengthen Your Soul

Some time ago I encountered this interesting practice/petition from a book called Introduction to Gnosis by Samael Aun Weor. In it he describes how to get in closer contact with ones own soul, and how to try strengthening it with a petition that is done in front of a mirror. This can be very useful if we struggle in our inner work, when our will is succumbing to that of the egos, when it seems to us that we are not ascending in a proper way, or that we are stagnant, unable to lift up from

Hardships and Difficulties while doing the Gnostic Work

Hardships are a common theme throughout life, and are not uncommon in our inner work. In the later case they can take on a different note, and that’s because of the nature of the spiritual work. By this I do not mean that life becomes harder when the inner work is applied, but rather that we become more conscious of life’s hardships. In a normal case (that of a person who is not doing the inner work), they would go through hardships in a mechanical way, half-conscious of the suffering that

The Third Eye by Lobsang Rampa (book review)

“The Third Eye” was the first book of an author called Tuesday Lobsang Rampa, published in 1956, soon afterwards to become a global bestseller. The story of this author is quite interesting. Lobsang Rampa was supposedly an advanced Tibetan lama who lived in the 19th century Tibet. Some time after he passed away from his life, an Englishman was contacted through a metaphysical mean in the 20th century, and was asked if he is willing to let go of his physical body so that a Tibetan lama

Experience of Clairvoyance during “Om Namah Shivaya” mantra

It is said that spiritual perceptions and experiences of such kind are gifts from divine beings, as well as our own Being. These type of experiences can come when we least expect them, giving us a flavour of our latent potential and helping us peak “beyond the veil”. This is what happened to me during my time in Canada. I spent about a week in a retreat center, somewhere in the forests of Ontario. The area was gorgeous with many lakes, beautiful lush forests, and a rich animal life. During
